Iām a Soma Structural Integration practitioner and have been practicing bodywork since April 2021. After attending East West College of Healing Arts and receiving my license as a massage therapist, I took a course on structural bodywork, and was impressed with the long lasting effects of the approach. It felt like the missing piece to the puzzle for me in integrating chronic pain.
While working at a chiropractic office offering structurally informed deep tissue work, I attended training at the Soma Institute of Structural Integration in Langley, WA, graduating in the spring of 2023. I have a particular interest in working with trauma on all levels and exploring the dynamics of how we hold those traumas in the mind, body, and spirit. I enjoy working with my clients on embodiment and learning how to inhabit all parts of themselves. Receiving the Soma series was a life-changing experience that allowed me to find my center and live his life as authentically as possible. My own journey of integration has included craniosacral therapy, yoga, meditation, shamanic healing, talk therapy, EMDR, and connecting with nature.
Portland SI Initiative
Shortly after finishing my program, I knew structural integration was a bodywork that everyone should have the opportunity to experience this work. I recognized how few SI programs are available and felt Portland was ready for one. I'm currently leading a group of SI practitioners in an initiative to create a program here in Portland to train and certify new SI practitioners. I also have an interest and passion for teaching and plan on creating a streamlined path for current practitioners to become teachers. By creating more of these programs and more teachers, the SI profession and grow and become more accessible.
